Today is the day before Thanksgiving. Anticipation runs rampant among the old, the young and everyone in between - this being the biggest family holiday next to Christmas! And it calls everyone HOME who isn't already at home. Most every person has their mind on either travel, cooking, serving, visiting, eating the traditional Thanksgiving meal, watching parades, family games, or quiet escapes near a fireplace. Or, maybe a combination of all things mentioned.
The sun is shinning brightly today after a day and night of storms passing through the entire state. The sky is a deep blue with a few scattered fluffy clouds. It is crisp but not cold outdoors. The windows are open for the fresh air to infuse the house before company arrives this afternoon. It’s a beautiful fall day.
Tomorrow it won’t be. The forecast is for much rain as another cold front passes by. Temperatures will drop most of the day and the coffee pot, apple cider, mugs of hot chocolate or steeping cups of tea will be calling. It will be a cozy homey day for those who are blessed to enjoy it in that fashion. For others, it may be a lonely day; still others, it may mean standing in line for a free hot Thanksgiving meal somewhere. And unfortunately for some, it will be a day glued to their phones or computers looking for Christmas bargains on line before the spirit of traditional Thanksgiving has even left us. Not that it ever should. (But that’s a soap box for another time.)
For today and tomorrow, with the anticipation of family, fun and food, we just want to take the time out of our busy schedule to wish everyone a blessed, a safe and a Happy Thanksgiving and to remind ourselves and others to always remember to BE GRATEFUL.
Thanks for dropping by, because we appreciate each of YOU!
