OUR FLEDGLINGS

We all love babies, and I love the fledglings.  As I spend time observing the little ones, I like to see their reaction to freedom, their spunk and bravery as they expand their horizans to new adventures as they bravely try to leave their nest.   While picking blueberries with my Granddaughters, we found some Cardinal kids in their nest and on the branches of the blueberry bush. What an exciting adventure for all of us. Not so for the Cardinal parents though! They weren't happy at all. So we snapped a few pictures and then left them alone. One of the fledgings left the nest with the help of the parents later that day. And two stayed until the next morning and then left safely with the parents coaching them on.

While watering the gardens one evening, I found this little one watching me. I found no nest and there were no parents nearby screeching at me. We talked while I watered the plants nearby; well, I talked. It was quite content to watch and wonder. At dark, it was still perched on the fragrant phlox plant. By morning, it had flown off to its own world. And safely I hope.

For children, this is the beginning of becoming ones own person, testing the limits, the boundries

AND the patience of the one who gave them life. lol Usually around the age of 12 to 18 months. And as they grow, they test more boundries and patience, but really start coming alive in all their glory and personality, adventures and charming intelligence.

I just love to watch fledglings and observe how they taste the sweet nector of life.

If they are blessed to be able to do so!
