FLUFFING THE NEST

For those of us who are keepers of the home, and for many others who find themselves being at home during a pandemic and becoming restless, one of the many nice things of “home” is the art and the ability of “fluffing the nest”. Not only can this be theraputic but it’s a good chance to clean behind the furniture. Oh, I probably just ruined it, didn’t I?! Well, it’s no fun at the time, but when both are accomplished, it’s a good, nice and even a cozy feeling, like being in somebody else’s house.

Somebody else's house... but one can dream.

I have a closet, several actually, with many pieces of wall art and other things of interest that I bring out to change the scenery from time to time. What doesn’t look nice in one room, maybe a throw pillow on a sofa or chair, may very well work in a guest room. And a living room picture that you are exhausted looking at may now perk up a drab bathroom. Or a can of paint can brighten up a sad piece of furniture that has seen it’s best days.

If I, the one who hates to paint, can do this, anyone can do it!

Fluffing the nest is what we mothers and keepers do all the time. I personally like to do this each season of the year and bring out spring, summer, fall and winter highlights.

And you don’t have to wait until you move out to clean those dust bunnies either. The Husband of this house makes sure we do that even before I am ready to change furniture around or company comes over. The secret is, he hates spiders! Needless to say, “fluffing the nest” is something we abviously have to do often around here. But, it’s always nice to have a new view for a change, anyway!

Not our living room...but one can dream, heh?
