FAITH AND HELICPOTERS

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

I recently found myself repeating this anecdote to someone. Here was my version.

Once upon a time, a young man was fishing out on the sea. Suddenly a hugh storm arose and his little fishing vessel was being tossed and turned by the waves. He was a man of great faith though, and he put all his trust in God to save him. Eventually his small boat was capsized and he found himself bobbing around in the water. Still calm with peace in his faith in God to rescue him, he began treading water. Soon a boat came by and someone yelled for him to come aboard. "No, thanks," he replied, "I'm waiting for God." Eventually the Life Guard came by and threw him a line, but he gave them the same reply. Soon after, a helicopter flew over and dropped a ladder right in front of him. He waved them off with the same reply.

Eventually exhausted, he finally drowned and found himself safely in heaven. Confused, he immediatly asked God, "Why am I here? I thought you were going to save me?" God smiled and said, "Well, my son, I tried three times to send you help, two boats and a helicopter." "Oh, so that was You!" the young man replied. "So, how did I come to make it to heaven then?" "Well," God replied again, "your great faith in Me saved your soul, that's why you are here. But your serious lack of common sense is why you are here - early!"

Moral of the story: Keep an eye out for those helicopters!
