A FALL TEMPERMENT

Occording to my calendar, Autumn is still officially two weeks away,

but sweet September is here and it seems most everyone is in the mood

to embrace the Season and welcome it anyway.

It’s officially County Fair season, harvest season, canning season

and time for arts and craft shows and events.

Colorful mums and pumpkins of all kinds are showing up at the markets already, even while morning glories, roses and zinnias are still blooming in the gardens. You can feel the anticipation in the air as you run into people every day, chatting about putting out Autumn decorations, making plans to celebrate Fall festivals or taking a seasonal vacation.

I love the mood of Autumn. It’s a cozy time and one that fills the mind with anticipation of breaking out old books yet unread, or those that need to be read again and again while sipping a cup of tea or a mug of pumpkin spice latte.

Visions of sitting by a toasty fireplace on a crisp autumn night or romping around pumpkin patches with the grandkids and campfires surrounded by laughter and marshmellows on a stick all dance in the head this time of year.

I love the comforting thoughts of home, the annual family deer camp and the coming holidays long before they get here.

Memories of the old family farm, all the people and dining rooms we’ve shared Thanksgiving meals with over the years and the scents of autumn spices and holiday cooking cause me to look forward to yet another family Thanksgiving coming up.

I’m just getting way ahead of myself I guess.

But you get the idea.

It’s a brand new Fall season and another opportunity to

make more memories, enjoy the colors and festivities

and be grateful for all we have.

Here’s to A U T U M N once again!
