It was late evening just after I finished up the farm chores.. The temperature had dropped 20 degrees because of a storm that just passed through. The rain had subsided but there was still thunder and lightening in the distance. Everyone in the barnyard, including this old farm girl, felt refreshed from the rain and the cooler temperatures, after a day with a heat index of well over 100 degrees.
Laura the cow was especially feeling invigorated. She commenced to run out into the area where the goats were grazing and stampede them all around the pasture for no good reason. The guardian dog Biscuit wasn’t sure what was going on, so she went to check on this unusual animal dance. That didn’t stop Laura the cow, so Biscuit the dog started chasing the cow for chasing the goats. It was a strange and funny sight to see this big old cow chasing a herd of mamma and baby goats and a big white dog chasing her.
I rarely see Laura the cow running much less chase anything, ever since she lost a calf a couple of years ago, and then was pregnant for 19 months with a mumified fetus. I think she must be feeling better!
I watched for awhile to see if somebody might have rabies, foaming at the mouth or something weird like that, but it just seemed they were having an after-a-thunder shower animal exercise or dance and all looked well. So I decided to leave well enough alone.
I had no camera for this Kodak moment, but this was the scene just shortly after all the Shenanigans on the farm.
