PUMPKIN POWER

The power of pumpkins has lured our thoughts and peeked our interest ever since we were first introduced to them by our friends, the Native Americans. They were a celebrated food among the native tribes who treasured them for their dietary and medicinal properties.

Now, especially in the fall harvest season, pumpkins are everywhere and pop out like beautiful little orange sunshines.

As soon as we enter the supermarket our eyes dart over to the mountain of locious orange pumpkins and immediately we start planning how we will decorate our porches, gardens and home for the fall season.

We quickly begin to visualize the memories of last years’s pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread and pumpkin coffee creamer. We can almost taste it all!

The scent of roasted pumpkin seeds is dancing in our heads.

Thoughts of pumpkin candles and pouptouri are calling our name -- until finally, we can hardly contain ourselves long enough to do our serious shopping.

Almost immediately as the fall season arrives, the power of the common pumpkin patch has the ability to lure whole families to fields that dance with orange pumpkins and pumpkins of every color, size and shape.

It’s a beautiful thing to see families drawn there to experience it together, young and old. The excitement and laughter of the little ones touches the hearts of the older ones, healing everyone’s minds and spirits, and all because of the pumpkin.

And this is what brings them back, year after year! God Bless Pumpkins!
